For Home Entry & Bathroom Accessibility Modifications

The Home Access Program provides home entry and bathroom accessibility modifications for low-income Vermonters with physical disabilities so they can remain in their homes.  Modifications are designed with the individual in mind and increase opportunities for participation in the civic and social life of the community.

Notice of Pre-Application and Statement of Activities: The Vermont Center for Independent Living (VCIL) intends to apply to the USDA Rural Development for a grant to provide assistance to approximately 15 low-income Vermont homeowners for home repairs/access modifications in the following counties: Caledonia, Essex and Orleans.

The process for selection of recipients for home repairs/access modifications will be by application to VCIL at 11 East State Street, Montpelier, VT 05602. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come-first-served basis for eligibility based on the HUD median income guidelines and need. Recipients will be notified by letter if they have been approved to receive assistance and the projected date for assistance.

VCIL employees will oversee the project and use local contractors.

Public Comment: Public comments or questions regarding the Pre-Application and Statement of Activities may be submitted from April 26, 2023 through May 26, 2023 to VCIL, attn.: Home Access Program, 11 East State Street, Montpelier, VT 05602 (1-800-639-1522 or 802-229-0501).
