Executive Assistant

37.5 hours per week, Montpelier office.

The Executive Assistant provides administrative, organizational and secretarial support to the Executive Director and Board of Directors of VCIL.

The successful candidate for this position will be able to manage multiple priorities, have excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as a high comfort level with Microsoft office (including excel) and website editing.

Knowledge of disability rights and independent living principles is very helpful as well as nonprofit administration.

Minute taking at meetings is an important component to this position, as well as the ability to occasionally work evenings and a few Saturday's annually.

Candidate must have the ability to work independently, but also be willing and able to work as part of a team.

Rate of pay: $16.50 per hour plus a generous benefit package including 15.50 holidays per year, 2 weeks' vacation once accrued and increases with years of service. 10 sick days per year, 3 personal days per year. Health insurance, dental, vision, life, short/long term disability. HRA account of $750 annually. Occasional 403b contributions when voted by Board.

DEAF INDEPENDENCE PROGRAM COORDINATOR

37.5 hours per week.

The Deaf Independence Program Coordinator works with Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals and groups statewide in Vermont; advocates for changes in state laws and policies to improve equal access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals; has knowledge of Deaf Culture; possesses computer skills, including the ability to do research; has familiarity with statewide community resources to include human services agencies, government agencies and nonprofit organizations; and the ability to communicate concepts related to independent living and Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals’ rights.

Candidate must have the ability to work independently but also be willing and able to work as part of a team. Some statewide travel may be required.

PEER ADVOCATE COUNSELOR

20 hours per week position in our Rutland office.

Must have personal experience with disabilities. The PAC will work with individuals and groups of people with disabilities to empower them and increase their ability to live independently as full and equal citizens in the community. The PAC will also participate in outreach activities and technical assistance to increase community options and supports.

Rate of pay: $16.00 per hour

COMMUNITY ACCESS OUTREACH SPECIALIST

10 hours per week position based in our Montpelier office.

VCIL provides ADA technical assistance to government entities, organizations and individuals to help make Vermont more accessible to people with disabilities.

The Community Outreach Speialist maintains contacts with town ADA coodinators and state officials. They do outreach regarding private and public projects.

Good communication skills are required , and the ability to work as a member of Community Access team. Tracking phone and email requ3ests as well as distribution of ADA materials is required as well as entering work in the VCIL database.

Rate of pay: $16.00 per hour

Deaf Independence and Community Outreach Specialist

30 hours per week

The Deaf Independence and Community Outreach Specialist works with Deaf, Deaf/Blind and Hard of Hearing individuals or groups in Vermont to empower them and increase their ability to live as full and equal members of their communities. This Peer Advocate Counselor (PAC) will also participate in outreach activities to increase community options and supports for independent living and systems advocacy work.

Candidate must have the ability to work independently, but also be willing and able to work as part of a team. Some statewide travel may be required.

Rate of pay: $16 per hour plus benefits, including health, dental, life, and paid time off.
