Advocating for Change

VCIL is there to work with you to advocate for policies and laws that improve the quality of life for Vermonters with disabilities.

VCIL's Systems Advocacy program helps people with disabilities change policies, rules, and laws that affect services that improve the quality of life for Vermonters with disabilities.

Systems Advocacy helps:
  • Peers plan and design grassroots organizing, which may include phone trees and letter writing.
  • Bring people together to talk about issues and barriers in their communities, creating a positive movement for improvements.
  • Members of the disability community meet with the Vermont Legislature and other political figures, affecting the quality of life for Vermonters with disabilities.
  • Organize get out the vote campaigns, ensuring that everyone’s vote counts.
